We had a little bit of a problem with our site in the last 24 hours and all of our content was unavailable. We’ve hit a snag in our database that keeps our wonderful audio kingdom up and running and while I’ve gotten things restored and back on line things may be up and down while I make some changes and shore up some loose ends.

We have released New Audio this week for your enjoyment, but I want to thank you in advance for your understanding an patience and for continuing to support our Hooligan ways!

Hiya Folks,

Sing along everyone. “Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday BrokenSea …” – As most of you know, 2 days ago marked the 3rd Birthday of BrokenSea ! My first thoughts were “Wow – Has it really been that long?”. The time’s literally flown by for us all. Then again it always does when you’re having this much fun – LOL

Anyways, getting into celebration mode, we have the latest slices of audio goodies for U’re listening pleasure. First up is the conclusion of our blockbuster series, Escape From New York, and man does it pack some punches. Happy Thursday Hooligans! With just over two weeks remaining before Dragon*Con, we’re pushing ahead full steam!

Right now, we have CDs being burned with special laser-etched labels for distribution of the shows you know and love. We’re gathering some of the best moments of BrokenSea audio for inclusion on these disks and while they aren’t collectors items (yet), they’re sure to turn a few heads.

We’re also taking steps to make this an inclusive event for all of the Hooligans who aren’t able to attend this Con, by setting up real time posts and video feeds from the event. It’s going to be a great big Hooligan extravaganza!!!

Happy New Audio Thurssday Hooligans! It’s a great week of new audio releases but before we release you to your audio ecstasy, I wanted to give you a quick update on Project Parsec. We’ve had a really great response so far, and I want to ensure everyone that I will be making a personal audio of thanks before leaving for the con! You are all amazing people and we couldn’t be doing this without your support!

We still have a long way to go toward making this trip a possibility and while I don’t want to bludgeon you with constant fund raising, I just want to take a moment to ask you all to consider making a donation to our “Send a Hooligan to the Parsec’s” campaign. Like the promo Steven was gracious enough to record for us says, even if 10% of our listenership gave just $5.00, it would make a big difference!

Happy Thursday Hooligans! We have so much to celebrate! We have three great releases today, including the next episode of the 2009 Parsec Award Finalist Doctor Who!

As you might have noticed all of our feeds have been updated with a new request from us to you. You’ve supported us so much over the past years, but we’re asking for just a little more to help bring BrokenSea’s Hooliganism to the one of the biggest Cons of the year. Dragon*Con!

Scroll down to find out more. We’ll be adding a bumper to all our shows in the weeks leading up the con, and we plan to have live video and audio feeds of the Con Saturday and Sunday (at least).

Good Thursday Hooligans! It’s another great week of Hooliganism here at BrokenSea. We have two great releases for you:

Maudelayne Episode 9: The Not So Round Table
A sickly man is found in the chapel, claiming to be the Fisher King. He has with him the Holy Grail…

The Eustace Diamonds Chapter 32

In addition to this, we have great news on the legal front. As many of you will recall we were served with notice that we were in violation of trademark by attorneys for CPI due to a similarity in the style of our Logo to promote the show as it “constitutes unfair competition and falsely suggests the CPI has sponsored, authorized and /or is otherwise connected with you or your goods.”

Being the good Audio Hooligans that we are, we were shocked by the claim that we were selling audio books at all and that a logo created by our very own Art Meister could be construed in such a fashion, we examined our plans for the series and determined that a more appropriate name would be The Hyborean Sagas.

We have now been sent a correspondence from CPI stating that based on a recent visit to our site, they feel that we have complied and hope that we will continue to respect their legal rights…

We’re happy that they’ve seen the light of day regarding our stories not being an infringement on copyright, though they still believe we’re selling audio books at our site. If they spent more than a few seconds on our site they’d have seen that we aren’t selling anything, and that our original logo for the series was in fact an original piece of art. I suppose we’ll just hang it in the virtual lobby of Gorilla Audio Works and admire its beauty.

Jake and his stalwart companions head out to discover the source of the trouble plaguing the village, and end up in hot water.

We have a number of productions that have been nominated for the 2008 Parsec Awards. Our teams are busy collecting samples of the great episodes we’ve released over the past year for their consideration in the finals of this years awards. Results will be announced at Dragon*Con which is being held August 29 through September 1, 2008 in Atlanta, GA (or should we say HOTlanta!). Happy New Audio Thursday Folks! Where is the year going to? It’s hard to believe that July is over (as far as new releases go). It’s been a quick seven month of new releases. What do we have in store for the rest of the year? Well, several of our productions have been nominated for the 2008 Parsec Awards. This means that over the next two weeks, our production team will be editing together 30 minute samples of these shows and submitting them for consideration. Last year, two of our shows; Jake Sampson: Monster Hunter, and Feedback: A Hero’s Calling were nominated and it was quite an honor. This year we have six (6) shows under consideration. Show your support and spread the word about BrokenSea! Tell and friend to tell a friend and get people subscribed to our feeds on iTunes and on the show’s homepage. Leave us your comments about what you like, and even about what you don’t! We’d love to hear from you.

Our Second Annual Halloween season is drawing near. If you haven’t heard already, Halloween is a major event for us here at BrokenSea Audio Productions. To begin, we have the long awaited return of Jake Sampson, in a new serial Jake Sampson and the River of Woe

Jake, Tex and Lucy are sent on a mission to South America to assist an old friend of Jake’s family, but what they find leads them in to the darkness that surrounds the River of Woe.

The Contest:

BrokenSea Audio Productions are hosting a competition in preparation for our 2008 Halloween Season

In 2007 BSAP filled the month of October with some of the freakiest audio drama and podcasting imaginable.
BrokenSea Halloween 2007

This year we are going to do it bigger, better and bloodier.

To encourage even more people to provide us with even more material for the grinder we are holding a script writing competition.

“Van Helsing vs Dracula”

Write your best audio drama script in the style of Hammer Horror films
Give us leering vampires, buxom wenches, apoplectic heroes, camp action, and lots and lots of blood and stakes.

Rules
1. Your script must be in audio drama format
2. Up to 30 double spaced 12 point pages of Hammer Horror over the top classic chills!
3. Must have a character called Van Helsing (a vampire hunter) and Dracula as the main characters.
4. Valid entries will include the following as part of the story:

i. This Location : A church with a cracked bell
ii. This object: An artificial leg (of any type, style, purpose or level of technology)
iii. This line of dialogue: “It’s never done that before.”

5. Anything else is entirely up to you (setting, plot, other characters etc)
6. All scripts must be original, and you must be the copyright holder to enter. No fan-fiction beyond the style of Hammer Horror films and key characters (Van Helsing and Dracula).

The winning script will be produced and released by BrokenSea Audio Productions on 31st October 2008 AND the winning writer (first writer listed on collaboration projects) gets a free BrokenSea Audio Productions T-shirt from our Cafe Press store.

On the 2nd March 2007 BrokenSea officially launched with our first release. This was quickly followed by other episodes of new shows. The goal since then has been to release new content every Thursday.

Looking back over the past year it is clear that the true success of BrokenSea Audio Productions has come from the people who contribute so much to each and every production.

The writers, directors, audio-mixers, and voice actors. Without these individuals commitment to the Hooliganism, we would never have produced anything.

To celebrate these outstanding individuals, we are proud to announce the 1st Annual BrokenSea Audio Productions Icepick Awards.

These awards across a range of categories are awarded based on votes by members of our listening audience, and members of the BSAP crew.

Yes, you decide who is worthy of a Golden Icepick.

Vote for the nominees in a range of categories.

Voting is open until the end of March. At that time the results will be announced, and the winners will receive their award.

Tonight we return to witness the attack of the Lycanna on Garulk, Murrai the Goblin and Octavia at the Grog and Gryphon tavern itself. Arullia Swordcleaver attacks a sea serpent alone on the river Stygiar even as Olaff and DeV’ralto devise a mad plan to assist her. Reyna the Red springs into action when a hellish sea beast attempts to eat her pirate galleon, “The Lady Wrath.” More of the history of Silverr-O, Elder of the Pack of the Pure as the Amazonia continue their Goddess’ Quest. Meanwhile, Bane Renbourne treks across the frozen wastes to seek an answer to the riddle of the Codinar Prophecy and how it ties to the wizard Alganoir – still crucified to the Crystal Keep of the Magi…

Hey all, we just wanted to drop a line and let everyone know that our bud Douglys whose awesome music from his band Howl-O found in The Grog and Gryphon as well as VAing the part of Silverr-O in the grog now has his music at RenRadio. Happy New Audio Thursday to you Hooligans! We’ve been a busy bunch here at BrokenSea, and this week we’re bringing you another new series debut!

Maudelayne is a witty series set in 1933 at Maudelayne College, Oxford UK. In Episode 1, several undergraduates at Maudelayne College, Oxford, are astonished to find dragons appearing in the deer park. They are joined by Professor Lord David Cecil and succeed in thwarting the beasts, who vanish mysteriously.

We also are bringing you Chapter 2 in our new audio book presentation of Metropolis, a work by Thea von Harbou, read by Damaris Mannering.

In the Year 2008, by the Old-Earth Gregorian Calendar, the Doctor Who team moved from their previous home at Darker Projects to their new home at Broken Sea Audio Productions.

More than just a change of address, this move ushered in a change of direction for the Doctor Who team. The 2008 season brought new companions, old villains, and interlocking story arcs to the show. This season also answered a long-asked question in Doctor Who lore, as it both bridged a gap between the Eighth and Ninth Doctors, and linked the world of the Tenth Doctor into our future incarnation of the renegade Time Lord.

To aid fans, new and old, keep track of everything, we built a Whoniverse Reference Page, and a Timeline of the stories so far. The Whoniverse contains short descriptions and backgrounds for much of the season. Enjoy!

Conan Queen of the Black Coast
The audio book version of Robert E. Howard’s Incredible tale of Conan the Barbarian: Queen Of The Black Coast, continues with the final 3 chapters.

Chapter 2
After many adventures together, Belit and her Beloved First Mate CONAN, sail the river Zarkheba, which means Death in the dark tongue of Stygia, in search the gold of a lost city of antiquity. But horror awaits the crew of the Tigress…

This is a reading of the Story by Bill Hollweg. The intro and outro music was composed by Seraphic Panopoly.

Chapter 3: The Horror in the Jungle
Conan is felled by the narcotic properties of the Black Lotus plant and receives visions of the rise and fall of a lost race of near godlike creatures; the ancestors of the winged horror CONAN and his men have persued? Perhaps… While deeper in the dank jungle, his fellow warriors, Belit’s crew, wait in terror for him- not knowing of CONAN’s fall. And something watches the scene with slavering fangs….

Chapter 4: Attack from the Air
After felling a part man/part monstrosity on a cliff, and finding death has befallen the crew of the Tigress, CONAN faces the bestial, winged, horror that has dogged his every step since arriving on this dark shore… Sword at the ready…

The final chapter. CONAN sends the Tigress on her final voyage…

She is followed by Conan and the two soon fight their way to a great, walled city inhabited by two warring peoples. The adventure seekers soon find themselves embroiled in the feud and mayhem ensues as the city’s rulers make unholy plans for the mighty Cimmerian and his feisty female companion. Happy New Audio Thursday. Today we bring you a special treat:The audio book version of Robert E. Howard’s Incredible tale of Conan the Barbarian: Queen Of The Black Coast.

The “Queen of the Black Coast” was a novelette by Robert E. Howard first published in the May 1934 issue of Weird Tales magazine.
In the seacoast kingdom of Argos, after a brush with the Hyborian legal system, Conan hops aboard a southward bound ship. Off the coasts of Kush the ship is boarded by black corsairs under the Shemitish she-devil, Bêlit. Conan joins her crew, becomes her consort, and for a long time they harry the Hyborian and Stygian ports. Halloween Week 3 and a couple of days

This is a non-program related update. We’ll still be releasing more Halloween Audio Treats this Thursday, but today we wanted to take a moment to draw attention to the efforts of one of our own.

Margaret S. Garcia (M Sieiro as we all know and love her) is taking part in a 109 mile bike ride in Arizona on November to help raise money, awareness and hope for the Leukemia – Lymphoma Society.

This is a tremendous effort on her part and something that we at BrokenSea Audio Productions can proudly support. We are asking that if you can, donate a little bit to this cause. Like Margaret said. One Starbuck’s run, one bag of chips (ok, it would be a BIG bag of chips and something to drink, and maybe a sandwich), lunch at a fast food joint, thing like that add up. What we’re asking is that you “add it up” for a great cause!

Hey, all! I’m Shire Smith, co-producer for Fiona Conn’s Archimedes.

Archimedes is basically the story of where the great captains we’ve come to admire got their start. The span of the show will cover the cadet’s shared adventures and experiences, ending with their graduation (and hopefully their commissions).

I think somebody said, “it’s not the destination, but how you reach it.” That’ll be a big theme in our production. So, sit back and enjoy listening to our cadets as they learn more about themselves and their lot in life.

Dear listeners,

Please, allow us to introduce ourselves. I’m Fiona Conn, and my co-producer is Shire Smith. We’re the creative minds behind Archimedes.

The idea for Archimedes came about towards the end of the Section 31 Files audio produced by Eric Busby over at Darker Projects. The ending had disappointed me (though I won’t give away the hows and whys here – you can listen to it for yourselves .) Not long after, I had joined A Call to Duty (ACTD), a role-playing group. One of their departments was a Star Trek role-play. Players start out as cadets, assigned to trainers who take you through the rules, format and etiquette of the game over the course of four weeks.

I had been talking to Shire about my disappointment in S31 and my excitement at joining ACTD, and she suggested doing an audio series based around the Academy. So, Archimedes was born.

The idea behind Archimedes was that the Cadets would be assigned to a ship for two years in order to conclude their training. (Which, in hindsight, seems almost an exaggerated version of the ACTD training.) Ultimately, our goal is to show the Cadets growing up through their experiences on board the Archimedes, becoming adults in their own right, before finally graduating at the end.

Shire created a fantastic opening credits credo to replace the rather S31-esque one that I had come up with. The more I listen to it, the more I find myself agreeing with and believing in what she wrote: “we walk in the shadows of those who came before us; the legends who upheld the ideals of the Federation.” That line is truer than you can possibly imagine. Just like our Cadets, Shire and myself are walking in the footsteps – and shadows – of the Star Trek producers who came before us. Their creations – Section 31, Hidden Frontier, Intrepid, many other fan films and series, and even the originals – are themselves legends who upheld the ideals of the United Federation of Planets. Archimedes is our beginning.

Additionally, the support we received was just absolutely phenomenal. The adults in our lives believed in us, encouraging, helping and even providing for us. I want to personally express how grateful I am. It hasn’t, by any means, been easy – but nothing worth doing ever is. A huge “Thank You!” goes out to everyone who helped to get Archimedes airborne, nonetheless.

We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we’ve enjoyed writing and producing it.

What freakish world is this, where gorillas brandish firearms and chimpanzees are scientists? Dr. Zira and Dr. Galen share their theories….

“Every morning, I wake up to a mechanical alarm clock, put on my dampening suit, and cross my fingers that the game I’m about to play is going to be the “right” one. If I don’t, two things happen. One, my feedback field remains active and I fry every electronic piece of equipment within 30 feet of me. And two, I will have no superpowers to save the world.

“My name is Feedback, and these are my stories.

“Before the explosion that infused my body with the feedback field, I was simply a computer scientist and a little out of touch with computer games. That’s where a remarkable group of people known as Tech Support comes in. They assess my missions, supply me with the games I need, monitor my progress, and patch me up — because the greater the intensity at which I use the powers, the faster they dissipate.

“What I haven’t told you is …if I use a game ability, I lose a memory. Every act of heroism that requires these powers is a conscious choice to lose part of who I am. Sometimes that isn’t easy to do.

“But what other choice do I have?

“The world needs a hero.”

The ongoing willful act of devising unconventional entertainment of an auditory nature without regard to one’s own personal needs for food, sleep, or social decorum. 2. Rabid promotion of and overindulgence in entertainment of an auditory medium. 3. The result of a partnership between a twisted New Zealander, a terminally excited Texan, an outright mad Chicagoan and a verily viral Virginian.
