BrokenSea - Doctor Who

Whoniverse

Season B1, Episode 1: Unleashed

Psychomorph (George)
A product of bio-technology found on the planet Xeriphas, psychomorphs are manufactured physical forms used mostly by non-corporial beings in lieu of a body of their own. George is made out of a semi-sentient “living” metal which the psychomorphic organism can manipulate, effectively allowing it to not only change its shape, put the shape and size of any part of its body. George was presented to the Doctor as a gift by the people of Xeriphas. Unable to politely refuse a gift, and having no interest in psychically dominating another living being, the Doctor encourages George’s independence. Though they grow more apart and individual over time, a telepathic bond exists between them. An android called Kamelion, based on a much more primitive version of the same technology was first encountered by the Fifth Incarnation of the Doctor.

The Mara
A being of dreams and fear encountered during the Doctor’s Fifth Incarnation. A serpent (a primal fear of many races) is its symbol. Having no physical form, The Mara is dependant upon the body and soul of its host. Fear is its lifeblood. Terror is its joy.

The Fendahl
The ancient folklore of Gallifrey, the lost home world of the Time Lords, talks of a being of incredible power. It could focus psychic energies of sentient races to shape its own reality. The Fourth Incarnation of The Doctor encountered The Fendahl manifesting itself within dark magical rites in the English Countryside. It had shaped the evolution of the human race to a point where it was developed enough to aide the Fendahl’s return from the Dark Times of the ancient past.

Morgaine
Earth exists upon a rift in the space-time continuum. Many alternate realities are part of different paths that Earth history may have taken. The Seventh Incarnation of The Doctor encountered a reality where the world of King Arthur stretched out across the Cosmos, where Morgaine Le Faye is more than a dark sorceress, where she leads a galactic battle fleet in a holy war across the stars and leaves havoc in her wake.

Season B1, Episode 2: The Unraveling (Part 1: The Breach) & Episode 4: The Unraveling (Part 2: The Vision)

The Sisterhood of Karn
Born of a race as old as the Time Lords, the Sisterhood never sought to control or manipulate the power of the Vortex. They sought to become “part of it”. Long looked down upon as a relic of a long-gone age, science finally begins to see that the views of the mystics hold more truth than they realized. And that controlling forces of nature and understanding them can be two quite different things.

Maren of Karn
Maren’s mother (Ohica) and grandmother (Maren) met the Fourth Incarnation of The Doctor when the Time Lords forced his TARDIS to land on Karn, long ago. While he was there, The Doctor restored the sacred flame, and thus saved the Sisterhood from extinction.

The Torchwood Archive
The secret organization set up to protect Earth from alien invaders eventually becomes an independently funded Galactic Library of species and natural phenomenon. Thanks to some of its more influential staff during Old Earth’s Twenty-first Century, Torchwood realized that knowledge and understanding were its best weapons. By the Fifty-first century, Archive spacecraft were granted safe passage through most parts of space (even war-zones) as part of an amendment to the Shadow Proclamation.

Ida Scott
Part of the crew of Sanctuary Base One, Ida Scott, of The Torchwood Archive, first encountered the Tenth Incarnation of The Doctor during a crisis there that killed most of the crew. As one of the few survivors of SB1, Ida asked for a solitary assignment on a scanning vessel to “help clear her head”.

The Androzani Accords
Two human colonies exist in the Androzani System (on Androzani Major and Minor). Over the years they have become the most politically powerful human colonies in all the known systems. Their power comes from the trade in Spectrox - an anti-aging drug, only effective on humans, first encountered during The Doctor’s Fifth Incarnation.

Draconia
First encountered during the Third Incarnation of The Doctor, the Draconians have been described as a noble race of intelligent beings with a society most like feudal Japan. Though at war with the humans earlier in their history, Draconia now seeks an alliance with Androzani in hopes of strengthening their position in the Galactic Council.

The Rutan Host
Mortal enemies of the Sontarans, the Rutan Host was first seen on-screen by The Fourth Incarnation of the Doctor and most recently by The Ninth Incarnation. Resembling large tentacled jellyfish, the Rutans need no external weaponry as they can generate powerful electrical charges internally. Skilled at shapeshifting, the Rutans often infiltrate their opponants by posing as them. They are referred to as The Rutan Host because they can function as a collective mind even when great distances separate them from each other.

Bow Ships
In the dark times of ancient Time Lord history, massive spacecraft were used as weapons against a race of life-devouring creatures that would consume entire planets. The ships themselves were flown into the hearts of these Vampiric beings. As it was the only way known to destroy them.

Charged Vacuum Emboitment(CVE)
In an effort to keep the fabric of the Universe stable, smaller, separate Universes were created to contain anomalies that would weaken the overall structure. Unlike black holes, CVE’s do not have an even horizon, so they are difficult to detect and stay well hidden throughout the Universe.

Season B1, Episodes 3 & 5: In Plain Sight

Hameovores
A species from the End of Time encountered by the Seventh Incarnation of The Doctor. They are said to be the ultimate evolution of humanity before the darkness decends upon the Universe. The Tenth Incarnation of The Doctor encountered them again, though this time they were called The Future Kind. A dying race begins to consume itself, so in the end, humanity turn into vampiric creatures — a reflection of the beings from the dark time at the Universe’s beginning.

Season B1, Episodes 6 & 7: Lesser Evils

Daleks
One of two species to evolve on the planet Skaro, they were first encountered by the First Incarnation of The Doctor. As the result of a genetically toxic war, the Kaleds (called Dals in some versions of history) designed mechanical casings to shield themselves and allow them to access the Universe beyond their radiation poisoned world. Further genetic experiments modified their genetic structure and removed all drives from them other than the drive to survive and conquer. Eventually, they faced the Eighth Incarnation of The Doctor during The Time War. The Doctor thought his solution, that ended the war, had destroyed all the Daleks. The Ninth Incarnation of The Doctor learned that this was wrong. Some Daleks survived.

Thals
The other sentient species that evolved on the planet Skaro. The war with the Daleks had mutated them in a very different direction. From their first meeting with the First Incarnation of the Doctor, they have been shown as beautiful, perfected, humanoid life-forms. Mostly wiped out during wars with the Daleks, small bands of Thals could be found anywhere a Dalek resistance sprang up throughout history. But, all that was before the Time War. Without the hatred of the Daleks to unite them, the Thals used their perceived beauty to manipulate the humanoid-dominated Council of Planets. With Skaro destroyed, they pursue political subterfuge to acquire a new home.

Season B1, Episodes 8-10: Strange Bedfellows

Sontarans
A race of cloned warriors first encountered by the Third Incarnation of the Doctor. They consume pure energy and view all situations in terms of military potential.
